Compare two breeds

Pick any two of our 309 dog and cat breeds and mixes to see size, lifespan, care needs and an estimated yearly cost side by side. Typos are OK: try "labridor" or "chiuaua".

Yearly cost is a planning range for an adult pet at US-average prices, without insurance: the low end is the ASPCA's yearly costs (food, supplies, routine vet care, preventives); the high end adds one typical vet bill for a dog of that size (VetReceipt) or the high end of a cat's routine visit bills. Mixes and dogs without a size group use the medium-dog figure. It's not a quote. For a personal estimate use the cost calculator, and see the first-year costs guide.
