Questions about pet medicines

Can I give my dog or cat human medicine?

Only if your vet tells you to. Some common human medicines, like ibuprofen, naproxen and acetaminophen, can seriously harm pets, and acetaminophen is deadly to cats (FDA).

Why don't you list doses?

Doses depend on your pet's weight, age, health and other medicines. A wrong dose can be dangerous, so dosing should always come from your veterinarian.

Why are some prices missing?

We only show a price when a public source lists it. For most drugs, no reliable national price exists, so ask your vet or pharmacy for a quote.

What does 'off label' mean?

It means a vet is using a drug in a way the FDA label doesn't cover, such as a human drug in a dog. This is common and legal in veterinary medicine; follow your vet's directions closely.
